I have always been a huge fur lover with furs of my own but did enjoy the odd mix of lingerie with them over the years.  The last couple of years I got interested in getting fulled dolled up and I have to say I loved the feeling it evoked in me.  I don't get to do too often, it's a lot of time and effort and you feel it's somehow wasted if it's not being shared but still a lot of fun and would suggest trying it if curious.

A friend of mine gave me her old pair of Ugg boots.  Sometimes, I like to wear them on my hands and stroke my fur rugs with its bottoms (I NEVER touch the bottom of the boots directly with my hands).  When not in use, I place the Uggs on my blacktailed deerskin rug with a rolled up sheet of paper inside to keep the boots upright.  I can't wear them on my feet since she's a size 8 and I'm a size 10 (men's).

I dress as often as I can. I enjoy dressing up..always in furs and venturing out. I mostly cruise and get a lot of looks in my fur coat and hat. I have another friend who does the same...she looks more stunning than me, and also enjoys her furs.

It’s all about the fur, but I do enjoy dressing too.

I don't like the idea of cross dressing...  Now, hear me out!  What I mean is that the idea that men should wear trousers and women should wear skirts is bullshit.  There really isn't any such thing as a "Man's" or "Woman's" clothes.

Take a look on Google.  There are at least eight examples, throughout history, where men wore skirt-like clothing, dating all the way back to ancient Egypt.

  • Egypt: Men wore the "shendyt" that resembled the Scottish kilt.
  • Scotland: Men wore kilts.  (of course!  😉 )
  • Greece: The chiton. (Like the Roman toga.)
  • Rome: The toga.
  • Medieval Europe:  Men wore garments called a "kirtle" or the tunic.
  • Japan: The hakama, a traditional garment worn in Japanese martial arts.
  • Southeast Asia:  (Myanmar, Indonesia) Men wore the "longyi" the sarong or the "sulu" all are, essentially wraparound skirts.
  • South Asia: (India) Men wore the "dhoti" or the "lungi."  Again, they are skirt-like garments.

I didn't look but, if memory serves, men and women in the South Pacific (Hawaii, etc.) wore garments that resemble skirts.  Then, of course, there is the loincloth which is basically a primitive "mini-skirt."  😉

Basically, since about 5,000 years ago, men and women have been wearing skirts but nobody ever so much as blinked an eye.  Now, only in the last two or three hundred years, we have people going 'round, saying that "Men should wear pants!" and "Women should wear dresses!"  In my book that is bullshit!

As far as I am concerned, people can wear whatever the hell they want!  If you'd like a modern example, take a look at the comedy series on Netflix called "Kaos."

https://www.netflix.com/title/80997258

Eddie Izzard plays one of the Fates.  I think his/her role and the way she/he dresses is freakin' PERFECT!  I know Eddie Izzard's work and I know that Eddie is an advocate.  I'm on his side.  I don't think that anybody should have to dress or look a certain way just because they have a penis or a vagina.

Bottom line:  I think that the concept of "cross dressing" is for narrow minded people and that people should be able to wear what they want and what makes them feel good to wear.

I yeild the soap box to the next speaker...  😉

...and yet none of the examples you brought was ever considered as "unisex-appearal". Much the opposite, each example was in their respective cultural context) identified as "men's clothing.

Now, while I am not a crossdresser myself, I absolutely enjoy the sight of a crossdresser as an appearance outside the norm. And that is what (in my eyes) makes the sight so special. I am pretty happy about it.

Your comment inspired me to do some more searching and what I am finding is pretty interesting.  It's turning out to be a pretty deep dive.

There's a Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men's_skirts

There's another one at a site called "Bustle:" https://www.bustle.com/style/were-dresses-made-for-men-skirts

They are both long articles that would take a long time to quote and summarize so I'll let the reader decide what to read and take away from them.  However, the idea of skirts (or skirt-like garments) being for men or women is strictly a Western idea that started about the time when men started to ride horses and when technology became mature enough for pants to be made on a larger scale.

Like I said, there's a lot of interesting stuff to read.  🙂

Still, I think that gender roles, especially as they apply to fashion and clothing are pretty old fashioned.  Back in the days when men went hunting while women stayed behind to tend the home, those ideas might have made sense but, nowadays, in an industrialized society where both genders play more or less equal roles, those ideas are becoming more and more outdated.

I think that the idea where men should wear one kind of clothing and women should wear another is mostly bullshit.  I think that it amounts to little more than sexist "pigeonholes"... putting people into groups based on arbitrary concepts.  I think that classifying people based, solely, on gender is doing a lot of damage to peoples' psyches and I think that many of the trouble we see with sexual violence between men and women is because of it. (Mostly by men UPON women but also by men upon men who, somehow, don't measure up to arbitrary, made up, standards.)

I grew up in a place where people held traditional views and many people were strict in their thinking.  Yes, I hold traditional views but I think that I differ because I don't think that those views should be strictly held by everybody.  If a person wants to be a traditionalist, that's fine but if they don't, there isn't anything wrong with that.  Back when I was a kid, men were men and women were women but, as I grow older (and hopefully wiser) I'm starting to see how much of those beliefs are really just arbitrary bullshit.

At the same time, people where I grew up were pretty Libertarian... "Nobody can tell ME what to do and how to live!"  I believe in that but I also see that the concepts of Libertarianism and traditional gender roles are at odds with each other.  How can somebody say, "Men should be men and women should be women," at the same time they say, "People can do what they want?"  It comes down to nothing more than self-serving bullying...  "I can do what >I< want but YOU have to do what >I< tell you!"

Traditional, in my views, I may be but the "Do as I say" attitude is BULLSHIT!

What I think, in terms of what clothes people wear, is meaningless in the greater context.

People can wear whatever clothing they want.  If you want to wear a skirt, a toga, a dashiki or a pair of Levi's jeans, that's YOUR decision.  If other people don't like it, they can go fuck themselves!

Oh!  I do agree with you.  When it is well done, I think that a man wearing a dress can look pretty good!  🙂
