    • I don't care so long as there is a chat facility available

    • mChat should be on the index page so I can see who is chatting before joining the chat.

I know the Mini-Chat is totally different from PhpFreeChat and change can be difficult to adjust to. Those who like to chat please give the Mini-Chat facility a fair trial and then let us know what you think.

NOTE: There are options on your UCP under Overview -> mChat that control how mChat displays for you.

The 4th option in the poll relates to an option in the mChat configuration - the chat window can be at the bottom of the index page rather than on a separate page which would cause the "Who is Chatting" list to also appear on the index page. Unfortunately I cannot find any other way to get the "Who is Chatting" list on the index page.

If you don't like the new chat, if you could tell us why, that would help us out a whole lot on this issue. Our problem is that many people would not use the old chat as they simply just kept getting kicked out of it.

Before voting, can I ask if there will be much change from the current format once it's development is completed?

For me, I think the current format is terrible (you could say I'm a traditionalist as far as chat windows go) but if it'll get better than it currently is, then I've got no problem

To my knowledge, no. The discussion at phpbb.com regarding this extension is here.

There is another chat extension (AJAX Chat) in development, but it requires a newer version of PHP than is available on our server.

I'll admit, the old chat did feel more like a proper chat page. It didn't seem quite /that\ buggy to me. The current mini-chat feels more like a... 'shout box' of sorts. Unfortunately, when I checked it out, the list said no one else was there.

I kind of wondered, was there any other options you tried looking into in regards to chat systems?
