From what I can see in the image, the hair at the seam between the uppers and sole tends to wrap around to the sole. This would lead to a lot of hairs breaking while the shoes were worn and lead to a rapid deterioration of the look of the shoes. Also they could easily get soiled and be difficult to clean.
