JGalanos
What episode came to mind when you read the subject? For me, it was the unbelievably cold day I wore my brand new fisher coat to a theater off Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. It was a bitterly cold Saturday evening in early February -- ~5 F with winds gusting off Lake Michigan at over 20 MPH. My coat was like a warm shield protecting me from the attacking winds. I truly appreciated the warmth of my fur that day! Unfortunately, I did not cover my face and I wound up with a combo of wind burn and almost-but-not-quite frost bite, resulting in the skin on my nose (uncomfortably and unsightly) peeling the following week. JGalanos
No responses yet? Methinks either (1) Denizens should wear their furs out and about more often or (2) Denizens are away from home on Spring Break. I'll optmistically choose option 2. White Fox
I think you might be right to a degree. Plus with it warmer now people may not be thinking of fur as much as some other times. However, I also know that there are some guys here who don't like to wear fur, and I've no problem with that. One other major thing I think though too. I saw your post. Your idea is fantastic. But as I thought, I had a hard time coming up with ONE time. Every time I wear fur is fantastic. The feel. The touch. The experience of softness. As for hilites there are just so many times. There is riding on the carousel at almost midnight as I recall in Greenfield Village in Detroit at the Christmas event. Sitting right next to a woman in a black mink jacket. Me in the full length mink and fox coat in the avatar in freezing cold weather. There is walking through Quebec, and riding around the park in a sleigh at night being pulled by a horse sitting in the cutter in fur. Think it might have been the same coat. There was a time I was sitting on a bench in fall talking to a group of folks at a meeting. A woman came along to join us in a coyote coat full length. I said "Wow that looks fantastic, can I borrow you coat? She said "Thanks, I thought you looked cold" and wrapped me in it! There was the time I mentioned not long ago when I walked into the restaurant about a month and a half ago and was shown to the table with my coat all done up and the hood up as I recall. And three people looked at me so stunned I almost thought they might pee their pants! That was on a four day vacation. I could go on and on. There was the time.... Well, next time! JGalanos
Every time I wear fur is fantastic. The feel. The touch. The experience of softness. Agreed! There is walking through Quebec, and riding around the park in a sleigh at night being pulled by a horse sitting in the cutter in fur. This one is on my "bucket list"! grouchomg
Most memorable moment wearing fur, hmm... One of the oddest certainly was the time that I showed up at a project site on the railroad high in the Rockies at 7800 ft. wearing steel-toed safety boots, heavy work pants, hard hat, safety glasses and...... coyote parka with hood. Guest
My hooded Carhart/Blackglama jacket was made for the job site. "The guy in the Carhart and yellow hard hat." I got tired of freezing my ass off while trying to conduct business. In the winter any job site is always 10 degrees colder than across the street. More than one worker has wished out loud he had my Carhart. The most outrageous was the very pretty, tall bank teller who asked if she could touch my fur. I was wearing my Lynx lined Timberland leather jacket. She asked as she was leaning over the counter to touch it. JGalanos
She asked as she was leaning over the counter to touch it. At least she asked. I was "assaulted" again Saturday afternoon. I was doing a lil window shopping while wearing my faux fur parka when suddenly I heard a guy say "Great jacket!" and simultaneously felt him stroke/squeeze my left arm. What has become of common courtesy??? Edited March 23, 2010 by Guest
grouchomg
Was it courtesy or a come on? Once had a woman ask me if my fur kept me warm. When I replied that it did, she told me "It makes me hot!" I knew where that was going if I let it.
JGalanos
Was it courtesy or a come on? I think it was (lack o') courtesy. The jacket is really nice with great color, very plush, nicely styled, well designed/made ... I would be tempted to touch it myself if someone else was wearing it. But I would ASK before I did so.
