Apparently, these two guys ("Cap'n Slappy" and "Ol' Chumbucket") were sitting around drinking and talking about how there's a silly holiday for everything: Boss's day, Secretary's day, National Pet Day... You name it! There's a holiday for it! So, the two guys decided to make their own stupid holiday. They arbitrarily picked a day and called it, "Talk Like a Pirate Day." The newspaper columnist, Dave Barry, wrote a story about "Talk Like a Pirate Day" and the thing took off! Yeah, it is silly but I think it's funny.
