I can't see many public officials taking PETAs side on much of anything. They're probably still being watched by some watchgroup or another, and they want to make it seem Obama is on their side somehow.

 

Just like the Pet Shop Boys stupidity, here's PETA trying to make themselves seem as if they mean something in this day and age, with "just found" letters from Obama.

 

It's already clear that by not releasing a statement, Obama is smart enough to keep far away from that dead albatross.
