trautssamoht Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Obviously places that have cold winters, but where do you guys think you would see the most coats out in public?
dongleboy Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Italy is extremely pro fur. I’ve been to Milan many times and the amount of fur on display is incredible. New York is terrific too. 2
Panther10 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I recommend Chicago for sure and definitely the Detroit area. Parts of Colorado like Aspen and Vail are very fur friendly cities and Montana I’ve heard nice things about. Also I have heard that the Minneapolis/St Paul area is a welcome place for furs 1

And it was worn by a man, no less. It was a lynx bomber jacket but the pelts were unbelievably gorgeous. I had to chase him down to give him a compliment.
CoyoteFox Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Quebec City Montreal Maybe the best vintage/used fur shopping too... At least it was pre-mob wife 2

WinnipegFur Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Ive got postive comments and conversations the times Ive been out... but also get the look sometime. I honestly dont seem to think anyone cares anymore.. Im noticing alot of the nicer coats on market place seem to scooped up fairly quick these days.. Ive lost a few I really wanted due to contimplating if I want it or not... Ive had a few where arrangements have been made to come get it, and then they sell... Funny is with all these furs selling, last winter I think I only saw 4 or 5 coats to be honest...
FurMaster3 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Quebec City, Montreal, New York, Chicago anywhere in Alpine Italy. Depending on how exotic you’re comfortable with, Yakutsk and Shenyang.
Botje444 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I’ve never seen so much fur in Amsterdam since the 20+ years I’ve been living here! But it’s still not as much as let’s say Milan or Vienna
abitoni48 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago A real interesting topic. I would really suspect this has to be a cross section of cold cities + openness to fur. And some of this I have to go off my impulse and their reputation, as many of these places I have not been. From a US POV I'd have to say most of the cities listed would qualify. I believe New York, Detroit, Chicago would be far and away the top 3 American cities. I can't say much about Canada but from what I gather Montreal seems to be the most fur conscious. Milan is a big one for Italy. I always see soooo many fur fashion videos shot there. As well as Venezia as a more underrated option. Paris/London seem to be halfway decent? Vienna seems to be pretty good. Austria/Switzerland seem way more fur conscious within their culture and community. It seems to me like Germany simply isn't that great for fur. They seem to be less open to fur and also less colder than there Germanophone counterparts. Any reason why no one has said Moscow/St Petersburg? There were no Russian cities mentioned outside of Yakutsk. I figure most of Russia is halfway decent to great for fur. I don't really see much Northern Europe thought of. No idea if it's good or not. I take it that it's not. Southern hemisphere just doesn't seem very great for fur so it seems like the best bet is Northern hemisphere. Mostly North America and Europe. East Asia also seems like it would be decent. Don't know what parts have the most fur wearers though. I think I see a decent amount Korean women in fur. Central Asia also could be decent. Most notably Kazakhstan. I remember a travel blogger from back in the day talking about how she went to Astana and was blown away by how many ladies wore fur with pride and glowingly wrote about it. No idea what is better, Astana or Almaty. Or some other Kazakh city. Obviously, you can wear fur anywhere that's decently cold. But it's nice to be around more fur wearers.
