Worker 11811
Do people born in cold, winter and fall months have greater likihood of being fur lovers, later in life? I've think been noticing something about "Fur People". It seems to me that a lot of us were born in the winter months. I think that babies born in the winter are more likely to be wrapped in warm, snuggly clothing than those born in the summer. I imagine that babies wrapped in snuggly clothing might develop a preference for warm, snuggly clothing later in life. I, myself, was born in the winter and my mom kept me in warm, snuggly blankets when I was a baby. I do have a definate preferance for warm, snuggly things later in life. I was born in December. My mother always tells me that there was a big snowstorm on the day I was born. I want to see whether I'm a victim of my own confirmation bias so let's all chime in to see if the theory holds. (The poll questions are broken down into seasons so there won't be too many lines on the top of the page. But, if you don't mind, please reply with the month you were born in.) wallee
April. 24th. Same day as the dead waitress in Heroes. Oddly, a girl two houses down from me when I was a kid had the same b/day.
FrBrGr
June 25. Interesting perspective, Worker! And who knows - You might be "right on!" What happens to us and around us during our formative years affects us the rest of our lives. In my case, I think it had to do with parental intervention while I was experiencing the softness of fur. Somewhere in the "Our Favorite Things" thread entitled "How It All Began (or Started) For Me" are all the details, but the condensed version is that I was about four or five years old and was undressed, sitting on my parents bed. My mother's coat, which had a very large fur collar on it, was also on the bed. Out of curiosity, I guess, I pulled the collar over to me and for the first time, I experienced the softness of fur. But not for long. My mother caught me and all hell broke loose, the end result being that she took the fur away from me. I think that moment was permanently burned into my psyche. Anything prohibited that much just had to be a good thing! But - as you point out, Worker - that obviously happened in the winter months, so your theory may indirectly have affected me and my fetish. Guest
Do people born in cold, winter and fall months have greater likihood of being fur lovers, later in life? I'm inclined to contest this theory. I think people adapt to the climate they're born into as their natural habitat and develope a resiliance to it. People in cold climates develope a hardiness for lower temperatures and will happily wear thinner garments as a result. Its us summer born ones and hot climate dwellers that feel the cold and love to be wrapped up warm and snuggle in furs. I was born in July, and usually feel cold for 10 months of the year. Guest
Tryxie; Sorry. I was born and grew up in a hot humid place and never did 'adapt'. Couln't wait to get to a cooler clime which I did after college. Still hate the heat. OFF
Worker 11811
I was born in July, and usually feel cold for 10 months of the year. You and my wife... She was born in July. My gosh! There's a down comforter, two blankets, flannel sheets and an electric heating pad in our bed! She climbs into bed, pulls up the covers and turns the heat up to "11"! She lies there and shivers while I'm sweating my A$$ off! I tell her that, if she's not warm enough, I can build a fire in the middle of the bed. I think she actually considers it. Unclejoe420
I was born in March, so I'm an Aries. If i remember right, I was also born in the Chinese year of the Horse. So I'm not really sure if or how this affects my love of fur, but I guess we all want to snuggle up to something soft and warm, right?

ReFur
Just a side comment on health: If you are cold all the time check your thyroid levels. I use to be cold all the time. Now I take thyroid and I actually am comfortable for the first time. Thyroid levels also affect many other metabolism issues that are very important. I still wear my furs anytime it is below 30 degrees and not wet snow or rain. Linda
