Since I am using a new computer, things are pretty clean right now but I still get it. I was wondering if they are using our site here somehow to send this to members? Just a thought. Most windows installations supplied with new computers have tons of unnecessary bloat and pure junk applications. I suggest you remove any unnecessary junk and run a malware scanner. White Fox Posted March 23, 2011 Author Share Posted March 23, 2011 It may well be that but itt was absolutely identical on the old computer. only one site and would appear right after all antivirus and spybot checks etc. As long as it is local to me it is not a big deal. Possibly another site I visit too though I don't have time to visit a lot. As long as others aren't getting it here from this site that is all Required. Worker 11811 Posted March 23, 2011 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Live Jasmin is a porno site. They always leave popups and pop-unders on your browser. You probably have a cookie or a default setting that's been changed. Clear your cookies, settings and browser history and see if that doesn't help. In other words they are coming from somewhere and I don't go to many sites. I sendom get to sites other than three of my own. Indeed cookies will clear it, but it generally does not seem long coming back. That was why I wondered if it was something to do with this site. Now that it is confirmed that it is not there are ways to get rid of it. I just didn't want to delete it for myself here and have a whole lot of members putting up with it if it happened to be something to do with something someone had done to us here. AKcoyote Posted March 24, 2011 Share Posted March 24, 2011 There are several of what I consider "good browsing practices" regarding using Firefox (or any other browser, but my recommendations are specific to FireFox - YMMV). clear ALL cookies and history when the browser exits. This is probably the most important and will eliminate dozens of problems from obsolete copies of webpages and old cookies. use an ad-blocker such as Adblock Plus. Makes pages much more readable. use the browser's "Block pop-up windows" feature. never accept third-party cookies. limit what cookies you do accept to those that are really needed. Always have the browser ask you if you want to store that domain's cookies. use a javascript / java add-on such as NoScript to block junk from untrusted websites. use an add-on such as RefControl to control what sites get referrer info from you (reduces tracking). use an add-on such as Ghostery to kill "web bugs" (3rd party tracking info) included in many website's data streams. use an add-on such as BetterPrivacy to eliminate "super cookies" (tracking data) mainly used by Adobe Flash sites. There might be occasions where you will need to "un-block" some things for a trusted site, and you can set "exceptions" for such occurrences. If you go to a website link posted in one of the forum messages, that site could send a redirect command via JavaScript that sends you to LiveJasmin where you'll end up with that popup screen.
