An Explanation of our Links Pages

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have wondered about one thing in our Links Area in Wiki. Many Links there are marked as not working. They will be marked something like ... Site Down, July '08.

Have you wondered why we mark them that way instead of deleting them? Would deleting them not be easier?

Yes, it would be easier to delete, but here is why we do not do that. If we delete a link it is gone for good. However, in some of these cases (not all but some), the link will likely return. It may be under construction to rebuild it. There may be server problems at the exact time that we went to it to check it. etc. Our Links area is rechecked approximately twice a year. We constantly add new links as members email or PM them to us, and we hope more people will do that. But, we do go through it twice a year for corrections.

If we find a link bad, we don't delete it, but mark it as "Site Down", with a date. Then, the next time through we delete it if it is still inactive. We also do a search for the site as well to see if a new one has been started on another server. Many times we find this is the case.

Again, if anyone would like to help us with this, it is indeed an interesting project as you are visiting all of these wonderful fur sites as part of the project. It really is a great job indeed. And others here like Brandy, JGalanos, and FrBrGr can tell you how easy that it really is to learn the little wiki you need to know to do these things. With a little help from us we can have you going in no time.

Just wnted to explain.
