Current exchange rates make that ~1300 USD. If memory serves, Elsafur was asking quite a lot more than that!

If a furrier is willing to make one of those coats for $1300 then my guess is they are using low quality/recycled pelts that fall apart pretty easily. I would not be so willing to part ways with your money in exchange for a piece of junk.
