tv to computer viewing

With my tv just having blown up, and since I was going to cancel sky subscription anyway due to rubbish progamming and too many adverts, I was wondering if anyone here has had experience (or uses) any of the TV to computer software programmes that are available on the net?

 

Do they work?

Do they do all that they say?

Are there any that are particularly recommended over others.

 

(needs to be available in the UK)

 

From experience I know there's always someone ou there in the Den that will know the answer. That's yet another reason for being a member!

He loves it. Can also record TV shows to your hard drive.

 

I don't know if it's available in the UK though.

Just remember that's Canadian. So they only deliver via dog sled.
