Recommended Posts

I am in Venice for the weekend. It is literally fur heaven. Furs everywhere on the young and and old alike. We have brought one of our furs just incase, and my wife has said she will definately wear it out and about here.

Glad to hear that. Seems like fur is common in parts of Italy, like Milan also.

Milan is my favourite destination for fur spotting.  Alas, I’ve not been there since just before the pandemic but, hopefully, one day soon…

I hope that my fellow fur lovers can take some candid shots of these in the wild.  One must be circumspect but we’d all love to see

I returned from some European Christmas Markets. Good news: Plenty of fur jackets, guess they are back in style.  Bad News: It is all faux fur 😞

Thank you for these beautiful pictures. I'm amazed to see the beautiful quality of mink fur...

Dongleboy, you don't have a new opportunity to come back to Milan or Italia ?

Milan is one of the best places to see ladies wearing fur. Mink is always dominant on the street and this is a real pleasure to see different coats and styles (full length, jacket, hooded coat).

I'm surprised to see not many men's wore fur on the street, during my last trip for visiting my grandparents. I only see a man wore a black mink jacket and myself...

Personally, I appreciate to wear my fur at Milan for the pleasure of seeing people enjoying the Christmas vibes. Milan is the best fur fashion place, you wear fur and never you are judged, never a bad reaction or a stupid comment from vegans or Peta members!

I understand why my grandparents lives at Milan since 16 years and don't want moving to a another cities...

Money has been a bit tight this year so I’ll probably have to wait until next winter for Milan trip.  I’ve been a few times and have never failed to see lots of women wearing gorgeous furs.  Lots of mink but not a lot of sable which I’d hoped for. Ah well

Sable is more predominant in New York in my experience and one of my most treasured examples was visiting the fur salon in Bloomingdale’s when a woman came in wearing the most gorgeous mink coat.  She spoke to the furrier and pointed out a small repair that needed attending to.  He accepted it for repair after which she said ‘I’ll just take my sable’ whereupon he produced this incredible ankle length sable coat!

Let's hope the Olympics provides a showcase for the furs of Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Back in the previous century, I was able to visit a Saks 5th Ave store in Manhattan during a sale of ALL of the sables from their salons. There had to be over 1000 garments in the collection. I could barely contain myself, but I did try on several. They were exquisite.

My grandparents in the past loved this place, they found it beautiful and really enjoyed a afternoon or a weekend. My grandparents had visited the Hausammann family's contemporary art gallery!

Now, my grandparents don't appreciate the philosophy of this winter station, if prefer visiting during spring season, this is more calm and a real charm...

I understand you, this year is not the best. I have friends from London, Europe and we are all ok for the same results : Not a great year for the work!

I think, next year will be better and more good for work if good decision is taken to the economy. I stay positive...

I see the weather for Christmas and temperatures dropping negatively (sub-zero or zero). Since many years the snow misses but the temperatures are great for enjoying a long walk wrapped in fur...

Your story about the lady who come with a mink and back with a beautiful ankle length sable, great experience and great memories!

I imagine lady who love fur don't miss the opportunity to admire your mink on the street...

Milan you see maybe 5 sables for 40 minks on the street...

I love those pictures thanks for sharing! I really like those horizontal minks, it looks so good.
It’s nice to see so many furs nowadays. It will get cold again soo in Europe so well see more then.

Does someone know if milano’s furrier are open to selling coats to men? I could be interested in going there next year. It might be a bit expensive there tho.

dongleboy, love those street scene pictures. I am surprised to see ladies wearing their furs in the rain.

Wear fur in the rain is not a problem if after you take care of the coat and you don't save humidity. Different fur support the rain!

Personally, seeing a man wearing fur in public isn't a problem at all on the streets of Milan; furriers are completely open to the idea.

The men's style is truly incredible: elegant, vintage, chic streetwear, and so much more…

People don't judge. Frankly, they don't care what you wear…

I’ve never had any issues wearing fur neither. We tend to overestimate the attention people will give to men in fur.

I meant that depending on the furrier if you ask them if they have fur for men they might just leave you with a big “no”. It always surprises me because others will explain that they don’t have anything but will still make the effort of showing a few pieces. I always complain about that but it’s just that I don’t understand. It’s in their interest to sell.

I am always surprised by the number of fur shops and people wearing fur in Italy. It’s not like it’s cold there. People love fur there !

It does get cold in Milan, especially at this time of the year.  However, it’s a very dry sort of cold, without the dampness that pervades, say Scotland.

I know your argument and this is not really cool but many furriers are not open to see a men wearing it, the furrier think often we comes to buy a fur for our partner...

Honestly, don't care about it. Furrier is not open to show you a coat, you going to see other furrier who are more open and accept to work!

Italy have 3 traditions :

- Vatican

- Ferrari Scuderia

- Fashion

Of course, Italians loves fur and don't are ashamed to wear it.

I agree with "Dongleboy", Italy is really cold especially a city like Milan, when you visit a city who is from the coastline, the wind is really cold and often brutal!
