But it also seems that they depend on our patronage to keep the industry going…

I’m sure that increased cost has a lot to do with the increased tariffs and duties around the world. Also we can’t understate that the Strait of Hormuz has been blocked off as a major shipping route ever since Iran was arbitrarily attacked earlier this summer so getting pelts sent via Italy to the US via cargo ship by way of the Indian Ocean and through the Mediterranean Sea and up through the Strait of Gibraltar and into the Atlantic Ocean somewhat impossible now without accruing exorbitant shipping fees that all have to be made up for on the back end (I.e) the customers wallets

There are a lot of assumptions in your reply.  I never told North Pole Furs that I am in the US so the assumption that tariffs would figure into the price is just an assumption.  You assume that the bobcat pelts would be tanned in Italy.  That is not a given.  They could be tanned in North America.  You also assume that they would be sent via cargo ship if they are tanned overseas.   They could be sent via air freight.  Also, if the pelts are tanned in Italy, the cargo ships could just leave an Italian port and travel west.  There wouldn't be any need to travel east and then south through the Persian Gulf or to use cargo ships that travel from East Asia and then north through the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea.

As for the furrier in question, if I buy a bobcat pelt from him, I have no idea if he will send me a pelt that has been hanging in the cold storage vault for several years or one that is very recently tanned.
