Well, did you buy the mag?

Certainly hope you're right. Been a bit of a disappointing winter down this stretch of the world this season (especially with some of the ridiculously cold days we've had recently). Certainly had my hopes up after seeing what the northern hemisphere winter looked like with fur some months ago.

Got me remembering this magazine cover from years ago and then almost fell off my chair when I discovered it was from 1999

The Lohan shot could be lamb, but we'll take anything in the right direction!

Yeah I bet it’s alpaca and that stuff is absolutely disgusting. Back when I worked as an independent fur seller and handled pre owned furs that people wanted refurbished and sold on the secondary market that they would send to me, I was handed some alpaca coats and a blanket from a client and he says they were brand new when he sent them over but they smelled like an animal that died in my fathers wood shed. Even my furrier didn’t want to take them in and they have on sight cleaning services and a storage vault. The client wanted them refurbished but I had to tell him that they were more than likely trash due to the oils that were used in the tanning process were probably spoiled or kept in an unventilated room .

Whatever happened, those were months that I’d rather forget. Anytime I see alpaca now I get the worst PTSD from that experience and I want to vomit

That's really too bad as Alpaca can be a much softer alternative to fox, especially white fox. I have had at least a couple of dozen alpaca coats and blankets and only one smelled at all. That one was pretty bad and I could not even lighten the smell. I believe it was probably urine tanned. I found someone who wanted if and gave it away. Alpaca, like oppossum are nice as they clean up with a brush from most stains and dried fluids. They are one of the few furs that tolerate play very well. And baby alpaca is extremely soft.

I get a fur fashions mag once a year. I subscribed to Fur Passions and each Christmas they send me the annual catalog.

Um, please tell the community how one may subscribe to this magazine. I’m sure they would be interested in increasing their subscriber base!

I’m sure that we’ll see more furs next winter. Many young people followed the trend and bought vintage coats last winter, so the stigma around wearing fur is fading away.

I’m sure the years to come will be the golden age of vintage fur. It should also push a few people to buy new coats.
