UK FUR SCENE

Hi everyone, this thread isn’t only for uk fur lovers but aimed here, what do we all think about the uk fur scene? Are fur coats starting to fizzle out…. There’s a lot of faux fur from places like Zara etc but also saying that I think there’s a lot more vintage furs appearing, I’m a farmer and you see at a lot of country shows people wearing fur scarves, hats and sometimes even full coats and at the horse racing too! A lot of designers use real fur, places like Holland and cooper used real fur and their pieces were amazing but have sadly now moved onto faux as they received a lot of bad press! Also a lot of fur coats for sale on eBay in the uk so people have them stashed away somewhere!

What do we all think?🦊

I’m in Edinburgh and I used to see tourists wearing lots of real fur garments in winter.  I no longer work in the city centre so I’m not in town as much but there does seem to have been a reduction in fur sightings.  The indigenous population doesn’t wear real fur at all although I’m never short of compliments when I wear my minks when I’m out and about.

Actually I think it's the other way round. I definitely think fur is making a come back.

Hopefully there will always be a niche for real fur in one form or another. It’ll never be mainstream again unless the oil dries up & we get cold winters again. The problem for fur in the uk is the ageing of the few remaining furriers in the uk, and the looming fur ban. Maybe if they do ban real fur it will suddenly become hip & trendy again. Fur is enjoying something of a renaissance just now, hopefully it’s not just a passing fad.. quite a few people have fur in the home nowadays, as blankets, throws & pillows etc, I certainly do. The only place  I see full fur coats nowadays is at the big antique fairs in winter.
