Hello all,

Happy New Year! My sister got married on New Years Eve. I was asked to be an usher in her wedding. Taking place in Arkansas, it has been cold, but not too cold, maybe 30 degrees last night.

Furs are back and popular! Out of 150 people I saw 4 full length minks, a beaver, a sheared beaver, 3 mink stoles, and about 10-20 faux furs of various cuts and styles. Even my sister had an oversized Zara faux fur coat. My family doesn't know about my fur love, but I have worn fur lined coats around them.

As I was asked to be an Usher in the wedding, I was tasked with seating people for the wedding. We did not have a coat check but there was a large clothing rack in the back. Sparking an idea, I began offering to take the ladies furs (and other coats even though who cares haha). I was able to take each fur and carry it across the building, earning goodwill and getting a few moments with each fur! A genius play if I say so myself. One other wedding party remarked, "Does everyone just have a fur coat ready to go for an occasion like this?" I responded, "who doesnt? I should have worn mine!" The group of men and women I was in thought this was hilarious, however little do they suspect that I was completely serious. As I was in a tuxedo, I did not have an opportunity to wear fur this evening.

Although I got a moment with each fur, nothing NSFW happened through the night, although many women young and old received compliments on their furs and were extremely happy and excited to receive said compliment. I will offer a large fox coat to my next sister so the bride doesn't need to wear faux on the wedding day next time lol!

Just wanted to share my little fur adventure and let everyone know that furs are everywhere right now!

A very uplifting post. It is wonderful to hear that so many people honored the occasion with furs. Hope springs eternal.

I thought since @furluvva has his themed series

by all means am I not an authority in Fashion but from my experience in visual aesthetics in other disciplines, I’ve developed some opinions based on this and other Winter Wedding collections:

1) consistent look and feel: wedding photos are supposed to be the iconic and timeless portion of a couples memories. The fur coverage should have as much attention as what the bridal party dress for her maids. If you can’t get matching furs, at least keep the same fur type - just like us groomsmen, rent if you must. Perhaps, there’s an exception here - if the maids are all in Fox and the Bride is in Sable but I haven’t seen a huge sample to form an opinion.

2) Just like in other aspects, it’s the bride’s day. Don’t have a more eye-catching winter coat. If yours is full-length and the brides is stroller, I feel this is conflicting.

3) This day is ALL about detail: I just don’t sense that a black/dark fur works for Winter Weddings (I’m sure there are exceptions)

4) “Something borrowed” If your grandmother offers her fur, this is an honor and this takes precedence to anything else. There is so much sentimentality and meaning behind that offering. I think the caveat is if the piece is in poor shape.

5) Oh my goodness I think a Coyote Stroller coat on a bride in a white wedding dress is stunning.

I’m sure many of you can catch many fur faux paus in all this as well.

Which Bridesmaid should the Bride  be wearing instead?

My daughter received a mink jacket after her Grandma passed away. She said she would have worn the jacket at her wedding.

Oh, that’s a very touching homage to your mother-in-law. That actually brings another point I wanted to make… I’ll update my main post.

Almost ideal Blue Fox Stroller for the Bride. “Maybe” a little longer and definitely a little more dramatic on the collar. I think the width of the pelts is just about right. Usually, these coats are borrowed from a family heirloom or perhaps rented so can’t always blame the bride if it’s not 100% tailor-fitted and conforms to her body with precision - definitely a B+

She's beautiful in those kitties! I hope the coat plays as much a role in the bedroom as it does in these pictures!

It’s not Crystal fox and I’m sure that it’s Fox at all. From what I read, Crystal Fox is not even found in the wild but it’s a crystallization process done on Silver Fox fur.

My guess is that’s it’s Raccoon or Beaver but yeah, Im just guessing here. Hopefully somebody here IDs it because I SO want it! @CoyoteFoxyour thoughts?

It's raccoon dog, aka tanuki.  Maybe coyote.

Ahhh just came to me (and why I logged on) Finn Raccooon! Can anybody with the expertise confirm? Or is that what Tanuki is? From what my wife had and what I’ve seen, doesn’t look like Coyote but I’ll await  the judges ruling on this one…

First take was a Korean- or Hong Kong-made tanuki... Might be woven making it a lighter coat without the good underfur.

I'm still learning to spot the difference between finn raccoon and tanuki... A.I. says they're the same species just different names in the East and West... Friends on this forum have been quick to say that they're different and unique.

The only thing I know for sure is that sellers don't even know what they're selling, so looking at listings won't teach you anything... haha

Both are worth exploring, but NEVER buy either sight outseen... They can be gloriously thick and holy grail-like, or they can be light, woven, fur pieces that won't float your boat and will only look good from a far!

Finn raccoon and tanuki are the exact same thing (same species), the only difference being that Finn raccoon are animals raised on fur farms in Scandinavia while tanuki are trapped in the wild and are raised on fur farms in China.

I absolutely love tanuki / finn raccoon. I love the feel of it (some people find it not soft enough, but I am not one of them), very resilient and looks awesome.
