pnwhist Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 (edited) I must admit most of the time, the offerings in my area aren’t anything notable or worth salivating over. But once in awhile, you come across an absolute classic. If this offering is really from the Roaring 20s… Man, that’s pretty much a hundred year old piece! Quite impressive. Loveforfur Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 What’s impressive is the asking price 😅
minkme Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I don't really think it's from the 1920s. Maybe the 1980s? I think, in the old days, they don't really mix furs much. But I don't really know. 1

How much would one pay? Personally for me, not more than $100. 12 hours ago, minkme said: I don't really think it's from the 1920s. Maybe the 1980s? From what I’ve seen with posters that don’t know much about fur and their timelines, they’ll trust the small tidbits that they’ve heard and also if they see a number on an appraisal document, they’ll set the price close to that number. And then they’ll wonder why their offering isn’t moving.
Chrisfurlover Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 This topic is so amazing! Finally someone posted about it so I feel like it’s my part to post some that I’ve seen. Last 2 photos are ones I saw recently at an estate sale that I went to, they priced the Lynx at $695 and the blue iris mink at $400. I hope you enjoy these “barn finds” as much as I have! 3
furs limited Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 It's very interesting to see what people are asking in private sales. It seems that very few are being offered these days. 2

"If I flight on points, with an empty suitcase, and return same day... 🤔" The world's best vintage 80's furs are for sale as we speak!!!! Haha 2

Haha I will say, I have regretted setting my Facebook marketplace to the destination where I will vacationing. Many times I have wished I had an extra empty suitcase to bring something back home. Alternatively if it’s a cold place you can always wear it as you board the plane and use it as a lap blanket! 1

WinnipegFur Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 OMG That full length fox in the above pics.... now that is a coat Id love to be wrapped in for my morning -30 walks.... 2
CoyoteFox Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Found this one, but I think it's a zombie posting as the seller probably doesn't go back on this obscure buy/sell app anymore... Needs a good cleaning and fluff-up, but will be turning heads on my wife this Winter if the seller checks their junk folder... 🤦♂️haha 3

Couldn’t believe just how affordable it was and it’s now officially her favorite of her collection. 5

CoyoteFox Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 BIGGEST MISSED COAT OF MY "CAREER"... Beautiful 80s Silver Fox Coat (XL)... Big collar, full coverage, and normal lines/cut... Wife was actually excited to have it tailored and wear it... That's rare for her and I to agree... haha $300 CAD ($220 USD) on the local FB Marketplace up the road in Ottawa. Seller said it was a man coming ahead of us to look at it... Hope it was one of you... The search continues! 3 1 1

We paid the exact same on eBay about 10 years ago for this pre-owner Silver Fox full-length and it lasted a couple of years before it started really shedding and falling apart. I think it’s from Alexandre Furs. It’s now just in storage waiting for an opportunity to be a good throw. 4 1
pnwhist Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 This one came across in my Marketplace feed. We have a few here from the New York who can validate the notoriety of the NY Furrier/label but this is what the post claims: ”This is a gorgeous, like-new designer coat by Mr. David Leinoff, one of the top furriers in New York City. Mr. Leinoff was a master furrier who held 9 US Patents. His fur designs were featured in 25 Broadway plays and musicals. Davellin Furs a play on the name of David Leinoff and Balencia furs, a boutique line of furs sold around the country. This particular coat is made of American Raccoon, in which Mr. Leinoff personally selected every pelt and carefully laid out each fur to match and create a stunning visual appearance. This is especially apparent in the concept and design of the back of the coat.” I would question the “Like-New”-ness of the coat. However, you can get a full-length through your feed, it definitely gets my attention (in more ways than one 🙂 ) 2
minkme Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I guess everything looks like new condition if you don't know any better. Definitely looks used. Maybe could use some cleaning and glazing. 1
