Ladies

Your presence at this place and at certain others on the net is truly appreciated by we blokes who at one time or another thought that we (as males) were alone, and now it appears that we weren't................ and even females "suffer" from the same variances that occur within our little obsession (G_d damn old age and having to change between reading and long range glasses *sigh*) Okay, now I can see clearly.... if I move the chair forward... and then back and.... you get the picture.

Oh yes..... I do not doubt for one minute the size of folks fur collections, cause if I had the money, well, there are five coats at Avi's at the moment, a few comforters at a couple of Canadian sites and also a German site.... and then there's the ones in my mind awaiting realisation. Or to put it another way, my collection has not increased since my last entry in the original list.

I am definitely desirous of raiding certain folks' closets/warehouses to get to know their furs better..... and it is great to see not only Maddie but also Furbabe posting..... especially if it is the Furbabe from the Library site. If so.... LTNS... if not.... not a bad way to introduce yourself *grin*

Anyways, that's me two cents worth. Better go before Worker tracks me down and jams me WEG

Men's mink:

* Dark denim blue hooded mink with black a mink stripe down each arm & hood

* Black leather coat reversible to black mink fur

* Dark brown leather coat reversible to mahogany mink fur

* Chestnut brown leather coat reversible to chestnut mink fur

* Black leather jacket reversible to black sheared mink fur

* Denim coat with blond/pastel mink lining

Men's rabbit fur coats:

* Sean John white leather coat reversible to natural rabbit

* Sean John black leather coat reversible to natural rabbit

* Denim styled coat with dyed blue rabbit lining

* Sheared rabbit lined DNKY wool trench style coat

* Bronzish gold hooded leather coat reversible to gray rex rabbit (I love this coat, it's like a wearable blanket)

* Black leather bomber reversible to gray rex rabbit

* Black leather bomber lined with sheared rabbit

* Dark brown hooded leather coat lined with sheared brown rex rabbit, hood trimmed with crystal fox

Sheared Beaver Men's coats:

* Dark brown leather coat with sheared beaver lining (lining is pretty worn now, so I use it a general wear coat a lot)

* Brown leather reversible to sheared beaver

* Gray-blue sheared beaver coat with black sheared beaver stripe on each arm & collar (design looks great though there is a small patch of slightly discolored fur)

Other Men's furs:

* Cream deer skin coat with removable coyote lining

* D&G designer hamster skin coat (this is uber, it's got hamster fur on both sides, but it looks very attention seeking from the pattern it the 100+ skins used!)

* Light brown designer (some high German brand) deer skin leather coat with removable hamster fur lining

* Wild Argentinian fox bomber coat with black leather collar

* Brown leather coat with removable dark sheared fur lining

* 'Pelle-Pelle' distressed dark brown hooded leather coat with fox hood trim

Blankets:

* King size wild Argentinian fox skin blanket

* Silver fox trimmed black muskrat blanket (very soft for muskrat in fact, looks like blank mink)

* Montana lynx fur blanket (This is so lush!)

* Double sided plucked white rabbit king size blanket (really soft & lush but being rabbit it does shed a little, not good near dark clothes)

* Black Alaskan seal fur blanket (This was made from fur recycled from old coats)

* Hamster skin blanket

Trooper Style Hats:

* Brown leather & blonde fox hat

* 100% natural rabbit fur hat

* Brown suede and Montana lynx hat

* Black leather and red fox hat (surprisingly soft & pale for red fox)

* Brown cap with rabbit lined flaps

* Black leather and silver fox hat

I also have a couple more hats but they don't quite fit any more.

Other bits:

* Small silver fox rug trimmed with black possum fur

* Couple of pairs of rabbit lined leather gloves

* Small full pelt arctic fox 45x45in throw

* A couple of juicy rabbit fur lined hoodies

I also have bunch of foxes under my bed, mostly full pelt, some full length. Condition varies though between them all. The not so good ones I sleep under in the winter.

I pretty sure it covers everything =P I feel pretty proud given that I only started about 4 years ago and I'm yet to hit my mid 20's. (Having said that, I don't think I'll get that much more, I have little room for it all now)

Great collection, foxkid! I was probably twenty years older than you before I had that much fur! You're fortunate to have virtually your entire adult life ahead of you to enjoy our "magnificent obsession!" " title="Applause" />

Fully agree with Frbrgr, as far as furs are concerned, you are definitely not a kid, foxkid. Great collection! Good to see you having succeeded in owning those blankets, after your posts in the forum regarding fur blankets.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Current collection:

-men's reversible birger christensen black mink/black leather jacket

-men's reversible juicy couture natural brown rabbit-lined hooded dark grey sweatshirt

TO SELL OR NOT TO WEAR (some recently stored and/or cleaned):

post-2008:

-men's light brown sheared beaver 7/8 coat (vintage, probably 1990s)

-men's brown ranch mink jacket

-men's grey rex rabbit coat (would make a great throw-blanket conversion)

-anyone's double pelt snow-white fox fling with 4 tails (must be seen to be believed...it's burning a hole in my closet)

-women's medium full-length blue fox coat, flemington furs label

-women's full length red fox coat, 1980s power furs edition

-women's small pale blush fox jacket, full pelt collar

-petites white rabbit jacket

pre-2008:

-men's brown longhair beaver pea coat

-men's coyote single-breasted 7/8 coat

-men's 7/8 otter double breasted coat (with a hole in the sleeve thanks to an unnamed furrier's carelessness...needs to be re-made into another garment.)

-women's full length blue fox coat, 1980s power furs edition

-petites grey rabbit jacket

-petites white rabbit jacket

-petites black rabbit jacket

-petites reversible-to-denim brown rabbit jacket

-petites white rabbit hooded parka

-vintage 1980s blue fox stole

-vintage 1960s chinchilla stole

-assorted hats including a year-old black fox russian ushanka

-assorted collar and trim pieces

-sheared beaver lined brown mink mittens with red fox trim

...I'm sure I forgot some. I just got back from the furriest three days of my life in New York. And I only brought one fur with me. Yes.

Ten years ago, all I had was an well-worn grey rabbit hooded coat, a couple of fox collars and a thrift-shop fox blanket! In 2004, I pretty much sold off my entire collection and started over with nothing...

Happy Christmas and all the rest of the winter holidays...to you all!

ciaociao

I am truly inspired! I thought wanting 6 or 10 furs was outlandish. Now I feel silly. It is great to see the various types and styles (F/L, 3/4, jackets, blankets). I am also inspired by the resourcefulness of you all. Admittedly I never really considered buying several jackets or coats to make a blanket (or coat).

This truly is like a vacation! Planning and having fun.

Lynxett (sp?): WAY TO GO!

Foxkid: You too. It is great that you have so many furs at a young age. You can enjoy them for a long time!

Now off to plan!

My list of furs are different from today because I handed in eight furs, three bluefox coats , three colored bluefox coats and two red fox coats to my furrier. I want her to make blankets/throws of them.

So my list is from this moment.

Furs to wear:

1 bluefox lined f/l coyote coat

1 f/l toscana sheepskin coat

1 toscana sheepskin jacket

1 coyote jacket

1 rex rabbit floor lenght coat

two floor length wolf coats (these old really HUGE ones they used when they used sled's)

Fur bedspreads:

1 huge coyote

1 bluefox (lined with mohairblanket)

1 silver fox (lined with mohairblanket)

1 raccoon with tails

1 alpacka

1 short cut sheepskin

(1 huge fake black bear)

Fur throws:

1 Indigo fox (lined with mohairblanket)

1 white fox (lined with mohairblanket)

Sheepskins:

2 double australian sheepskin sewn together

1 eight new zealand sheepskin sewn together

6 swedish single sheepskin

1 huge swedish sheepskin blanket that i bought on a auction in the north of Sweden. It was used as a sled skin. Not the highest quality but it´s OK for to sit on/wrap around you while watching TV.

4 long haired icelandic sheepskin

1 double sided fox hood / face mask

I am probably one of the few if only person present that does not own any real fur garment.. The most I do have is a couple of sheared beaver massage gloves that are not for me but the girlfriend. I do also have a sheared beaver blindfold that my friends at the furrier I frequent were nice enough to put together for me. I would like to participate more but my day to day life is to rough and dirty for wearing fur and I think they should be better taken care of.

I have, however, given some decent items though. I have presented my girlfriend with the first furs that she has actually been able to wear, literally. In the past, she tried a mink but that threw her into anaphylactic shock. With that in mind and finding items that work for her, so far, she now has the start of a nice collection I think. She now has a white fox jacket, very reminiscent of the 80's styling. A full length blue fox coat, she also has a sable jacket that I managed to put together for her and lastly a more modern styled sheared beaver jacket with fox fur collar and cuffs. She isn't the tallest woman, so it's more jackets than full length coats, even if she does wear heels most of the time. She doesn't like it that I am so much taller than she is, so she does her best to compensate.

Perhaps someday I will have some furs of my own but not until I'm done spending time working in fish tanks and other humid conditions or working on cars most of the time. I did stumble across a nice mens jacket a couple of years ago. It was a sheared mink jacket with silver fox collar. I saved the pictures of it and have real intentions of having something like it. For now though, I'm quite content making sure my better half is kept warm though.

Might I suggest, Kappa, a small investment from time to time with Ebay sellers to start a collection of "recreational furs" that you (or both of you) could enjoy? You might even consider splurging sometime to get yourself something to wear when you're on a "date night." It doesn't have to be lavish. Start with a jacket or hip length coat. You two would look great together in fur!

That is how I actually purchased the jackets and coat that my girlfriend has. Surviving on a enlisted man's income, I couldn't afford shopping in a salon, so I turned my attention to second hand via EBay and Yahoo Auctions Japan. Then, before making a purchase or bid, I read online and even asked questions to different salons to learn as much as I could. Between the information that Wayne (the owner of USA Foxx Furs) shared with me (who is and has been the furrier that I regularly do business with), and both the internet and here at The Fur Den, I continually attempt to increase what I know.

As for when I will start to add to my own wardrobe, I like to think that day will come soon. For now though, I get more enjoyment from the shock and awe that my girlfriend shows me when she does get spoiled by me. When I do start though, I think the mink jacket I mentioned before will be where I start. After that, I'm not sure right now. I was expecting to get some grief from people about my lack of fur but that also comes from my own sense of sarcasm and humor. Worker usually does a good job of giving me grief but it's a two way street. For now, the extent of my recreational furs is limited to the mittens and blindfold. I hope to expand this into a bedspread. I'm confident that I'll get there but as I mentioned, I get more enjoyment out of spoiling my girlfriend who will be my wife in the near future.

I probably will down scale some of the cheaper items at some point as I only manage to wear a subset of what I own in any season and I'm running low on space so can't actually get to some of my items without moving a pile of coats out of the way (this is despite living in two flats). If I kept collecting stuff like I have done I'll be over run when I get older as I'm only on my mid 30's :classic_laugh:

Cheers, furlad, for what is an extensive list especially compared to my paltry collection of a F-L. Silver Fox Coat & a Sheepskin Stroller.

Also congrats for finding & resurrecting a decade old thread.

Incidentally, how did you get such a large collection? Did you sell your soul?
